GOING TO SCHOOL IN GERMANY
What is Einschulung in Germany?
Einschulung, the first day of school, is considered a rite of passage for a child, the start of one’s academic life, and it’s celebrated by the presentation of gifts, the snapping of photos, and then the exploration of what the school cone holds.
The Schultüte, or “school cone”, is a decorated cardboard cone of gifts traditionally given to German children on their first day of 1st grade. The tradition began in the early 19th century in Saxony and spread throughout Germany over the years.
I describe this more on my personal blog, link can be found at the top of the page!
